Leave a gift in your Will

A gift in your Will is a very special last act of kindness that will make a positive difference to ongoing patient health care across New Zealand. Every gift, however large or small, makes a life-saving difference.

The New Zealand Flying Doctor Trust only receives partial funding for our service and so we rely on the generosity of our supporters to future proof our work so that we can always be there for those in need.

The process of leaving a gift in your will is simple. You will need to speak with a legal advisor, who will either add the Trust as a charitable beneficiary in a bequest clause in your will or create a codicil (an addition or amendment to your existing will).

The wording below will help your legal advisor prepare a codicil to reflect the changes you wish to make. The same wording can be incorporated into your bequest clause if you are writing a will for the first time:

“I give the New Zealand Flying Doctor Trust (the Charity) the sum of $……. (or a percentage, or the residue of my Estate, or a description of the property or asset given) for the general purposes (or a stipulated purpose) of the Charity and declare that the receipt of the New Zealand Flying Doctor Trust shall be sufficient discharge for my Trustee.”

You will need to reference the full name of our charity “New Zealand Flying Doctor Trust” and our NZ Registered Charity Number “CC55282”.

We would love to be able to thank you for remembering the Trust in your will. It can be helpful for us to have this information so we can plan effectively for the future, and more importantly that we have the opportunity to acknowledge and thank you appropriately.

We realise that leaving a gift in your will is a deeply personal decision. Any details that you make available to us are treated in the strictest confidence. If you would like your gift to be anonymous, we will respect your wishes.

Make a regular donation

A gift from you each month can make a life-changing difference for people in need here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We call our regular monthly donor programme the ‘Captain’s Club’ and it is endorsed by our Charity Ambassador and Captain of the All Blacks and Crusaders, Sam Whitelock.

With transfer flights increasing year on year, our service is always in constant demand. As you read this, it is highly likely that one, if not all of our planes are in flight and the crews onboard are taking care of seriously ill patients.
Regular gifts help us allocate our income more effectively and plan ahead. The easiest way to become a regular giver and join our ‘Captain’s Club’ is online, where you can choose any amount and frequency of gift payment – for example weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Every dollar will help save the lives of our most vulnerable patients across New Zealand. We receipt annually and keep you up to date with flight transfer numbers, patient stories and Trust news so that you can see first-hand the difference you are making.
