On the 3rd of April at 10 days old my son Beauden was rushed to Southland hospital as he was vomiting bilious fluid and not thriving. Within 24 hours he had crashed and we needed to be in chch asap. The nz flying drs were sent and we were there by 9pm and he was rushed in for life saving surgery. He had malrotation and volvulous. If it wasnt for this amazing service my son may not be here today or could have lost a section of his bowel.
Everything seemed to be fine until the 10th of September when he started to vomit bilious fluid and his stomach was very distended. Once again nz flying drs got him to chch hospital so quickly and he had his second life saving surgery this time he had a major bowel obstruction from scar tissue and it had caused alot of damage.
The flying dr team are amazing and we will be forever grateful for saving our baby twice.
